about

A lot of my first "first" happened during middle school. My first phone was the baby blue Metro Nokia that came with that ancient but addicting game "Snake." My first real girlfriend asked me out by passing me a love letter in the seventh-grade hallway, right by a locker I used maybe twice that year. My first introduction to smoking came out of a hustle my friends and I picked up, selling cigars and rolling papers we stole from our older siblings to the cooler eighth-graders. After a while, these attractions became my first distractions. My mind started to drift, and my grades began to slip. - W.U

lyrics

phone going off like a high school bell
cherry from the black burnt a hole in my sweater
feared even though I couldn’t fight too well
tears when you passed couldn’t hold it together
cheers got yo math, probably call you in sec
beers got yo ass, finna fall you on yo neck
cleared out yo class, drop the ball you wanna flex
sayin’ all you want is sex, is that all you gonna text?

truth wasn’t my specialty, was it?
treasure always follows treachery fuck it
all my hero’s wound up dead, and I dug it
always counting my McNuggets way ahead of my budget
workers flipping burgers rarely further to executives
wasn’t Gary Payton skating with them dirty ghetto kids
only way to settle was to meddle with some sedatives
Fallon goals, doing talent shows us to get us gigs
came to games mancala we chose
hit the mall with the wallets we stole
buying weed with the dollars we flipped
allergies, oh the pollen be thick
made the policy switch
on days that ended with y
shortcomings are all winded replies
no tentative eyes, grow syndicate size
keep a dim-lit disguise, or be the dimwit that dies

phone going off like a high school bell
cherry from the black burnt a hole in my sweater
feared even though I couldn’t fight too well
tears when you passed couldn’t hold it together
cheers got yo math, probably call you in sec
beers got yo ass, finna fall you on yo neck
cleared out yo class, drop the ball you wanna flex
sayin’ all you want is sex, is that all you gonna text?
