about

[Jones - Liner Notes #PINKNBLUE]

This last song isn't the end of the story. I don't walk away from this album, relieved that this chapter in my life is through or happy that I can move on and rap about something completely different now. There has to be a moment in an artist's life when the act of defying relevancy backfires, and the result ironically becomes their most socially relevant work. I'm not sure that Pink-N-Blue will be that center-piece or magnum opus that I won't be able to escape, but I do know, every project after this will stray from the last completely. Art Jones was a great friend of mine that loved every single project, mixtape, or feature I was on, but nothing more than the first tracks I uploaded on myspace. As a kid, I grew up listening to Tupac a lot with my brothers, and my favorite work he ever put out was on these bootleg cd's under the moniker Makaveli. They were several volumes in the Makaveli series of Pac's rough recordings and OG mixes of songs that were released on Until The End Of Time and Better Dayz albums. To know that I had a homie collecting my crew and I's free songs and instrumentals like I was the second coming of Pac blew me the fuck away. I could ride with him to the store on the random, and he would turn on some single of mine that I haven't heard in seven or eight years. Now, a full year after Art's passing, I regret that I ever took a kind and loyal heart like his for granted and wish my bro would come back one more time so we could sing all the classics. I hope this song did you justice. - W.U

lyrics

[Jones - Lyric Sheet #PINKNBLUE]

rested in our hearts, embedded in our memories
say the rich in a frenzy & this is insult to injury

what a day one mean
I could show you with an A1 team
like brothers if I may come clean
play dre, get some a1, heem,
for my days ones theme
we don’t wish for the worst cause we seen that
& we’d do anything just to bring the king back
rest in peace love jones can you sing that
rest In peace love jones can you scream that

moved like two twins
go back like fo flats & hadouken's
cry much haven’t tied up these loose ends
roll deep the whole street there’s no new friends
mean we movin’
life’s short so my hugs long
white horse got my cuz gone
wish I had a genie I’ve been rubbed wrong
talked forever, days we walked together
now a dove in the wind my friends off to better
once two brothers of the same kind
spit at a chick with the same line
feel you in the shadows when it’s game time
grow the locks back get some hang time
rain shine sleet snow
we’d be posted at the park
till the narcs come repo bruh
think positive, kill ego bruh
Friday mind control over Debo bruh

what a day one mean
I could show you with an A1 team
like brothers if I may come clean
play dre, get some a1, heem,
for my days ones theme
we don’t wish for the worst cause we seen that
& we’d do anything just to bring the king back
rest in peace love jones can you sing that
rest In peace love jones can you scream that

metal how I gear this
how we wish that you can hear this
hope our angels got them angles when the devils in our spirits
shop all clothes was clearance
pop’s was absent incoherent
all our shows front row appearance
bet my bro would know the lyrics
slaps though
dancing like his back broke
camping in the tact smoke
mansion with cap broke, cannon with strap close
jammin & we back close
famine we was flat broke
scammin with my tax quote
we just want the fat doe, know we got the sauce & the lactose

what a day one mean
I could show you with an A1 team
like brothers if I may come clean
play dre, get some a1, heem,
for my days ones theme
don’t wish for the worst - we seen that
do anything just to bring the king back
rest in peace love jones - sing that
rest in peace love jones - scream that
scream back

grateful you were great filled
told you stay safe told you stay chill
hope you walk through that door
like it’s fake still
brother art every mark every state we’ll
bring you with us

real richmond I thought so
still richmond like costco

sunrise pink
midnight blue

put that on my momma Kim Denise
put that on my granny Dorthy jean
put that on my momma Kim Denise
put that on my granny Dorthy jean
