about
[#10 Stand - Liner Notes #PINKNBLUE]
I grew up in an abusive household from about four-years-old to about twenty-one. As most of it was verbal abuse, the physical altercations I had between my older brother and my step-father hardwired my outlook on how men deal with their aggression through conflict. After those long moments crying or reflecting in agony, If I wasn't receiving the damage, I was taught how to inflict that same pain on others. "If a man disrespects you or your family, you swing on them." "If anyone touches you or your friends, take off on them." And soon as I became regular face around the hood, "if you see anyone from the other side that don't belong out here, send them a message, so next time they know better." At one point, I thought the amount of blood on your hands measured how much of a man you were. We had words like "sucka," "nerd," and "weirdo" that described men that were low on the barometer of a potential threat to us. That PTSD got played out when half of the entire set laid out. Pride led to the innocent becoming guilty of only being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I reflected after attending too many funerals and leaving brawls confused on how they popped off in the first place. Soon, my words became my leverage in any disagreement, and after a while, my most significant victory was the battle between my old ways and my new ideals. - W.U

stand off-ish
not careful but I am couscous can't handle it, get ya hands-off-it
presidential shit, i ran-office
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain't on the same page
someone rip the homie out
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain't on the same page

ever been on a mini high speed? or met a girl with many i.d's
seen your granny on many i.v's plenty family not many my breed
plenty try pills plenty try weed by choice
silence - violence does need my voice life's like, cotton mouth during wet sex
kill a box, tryna fill a box, get checks
flem spit
yin-less, losing friendships
have many of us have them? thin list win with, kindness, that's a minus
eye for an eyesore, living blinded
dined with hands, eatin’ split peas
shoot & kick breeze, sit & sip teas
nah it’s too subtle, gotta switch steez
time you chew knuckles, view, & lick knees
stand off-ish
not careful but I am couscous can't handle it, get ya hands-off-it
presidential shit, i ran-office
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain’t on the same page
someone rip the homie out
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain't on the same page
someone rip the homie out, out
carnage, armpits, gettin’ spunky
knockouts, socked out, getting lumpy
kick downs, licks found, in the country
suburb, submerged living comfy
tested more where people invested more
always had to check a chin,
you just had to check a choir
always had to check a trap, you just had to check a score
skating & deck a snap, break a neck in tekken 4 summer innocence
get a number in a pinch but a op stole my phone when the cops bent the fence hot topic think I coulda just dropped it in defense
know they took it out my pocket when they plopped it on the bench,
huddle up
in my head heard a chuckle *what*
if i let em punk me they gon jump me like it's double dutch taught to knuckle up, way before I learnt to buckle up
quicker than your boss I'll write you up, bet I light you up
stand off-ish
not careful but I am couscous can't handle it, get ya hands-off-it
presidential shit, i ran-office
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain't on the same page
someone rip the homie out
ima chip the homies out
till they kick ya homie out
we ain't on the same page
